'O' No, Oprah!

‘O’ No!! was my first thought when I heard about Oprah's “Leaving Neverland” interview.   My second was sellout *itch....but then Jesus took the wheel.   Here’s why: As a native of Baltimore, I grew up watching Oprah on WJZ-TV news and People Are Talking . Although I never met her personally, I did have two close encounters:  The first was when Oprah visited my 12th grade Honors English class.   She entered the room and   we students gasped in awe, seeing her as "bigger than life."  Wow! a real life TV celebrity (actually, a local reporter) graced us city public school students with a visit, (actually, to do a story on achieving students).  As I sat there, a senior, just pregnant, thinking I've messed up my future, Oprah offered just a glimmer of hope.   The second “encounter” was two years later. She’d returned from her new home, Chicago to speak at my brother's high school graduation.  My toddler snatched the hat off the lady in front of us and she bla

Homage to Biggie Smalls a la Lee Daniels, Dame, Monique and Jussie

Lee Daniels gets the “Black man” salute in my book.  Because if ever I’ve seen somebody who can say, “Look, y’all Negros are getting on my last nerve” it’s Lee.  First, it was Dame Dash, former Roc-A-Fella CEO.  Dame claimed Lee owed him $2 million from an unpaid loan for a 2004 film that flopped.  Daniels failed to pay the sum as part of a court settlement and Dame started talking trash about Lee instead of taking it back to court, calling him out any and everywhere even dubbing Daniels a “culture vulture.”  He also followed and cornered Daniels at a Diana Ross concert last year.  So, he couldn’t even enjoy a day off without being confronted.  And Lee probably paid good money for those tickets, too.   Check it out here:   https://www.vibe.com/2018/06/dame-dash-lee-daniels-lawsuit Then, there’s Monique.  Ever since Empire, the mega hit weekly series created and produced by Daniels first hit the air, the comedienne has been calling him out.  Monique claimed first that Lee pr

Hoodwinked Yet Again, Black People (R. Kelly - Part 1)

I am NOT that woman who’s a ride or die R. Kelly fan.  But I am a loyal   Aaliyah   fan. I heard his songs on the radio and saw a few videos but I'd never bought his music or gone to any of his concerts.  I didn't see the R. Kelly “sex tape”, but a family member said he’d seen it and confirmed it was R. Kelly.  It’s one of those situations that’s ingrained  into Black America’s psyche almost like the white Bronco chase.  Nobody wanted R. Kelly to be found guilty more than I did. But we all know about people getting off when they're guilty. *Coughing*   OJ .  See, I was THAT woman, who, after trial, would change the station when R. Kelly came on the radio (except The Tom Joyner Morning Show), stay seated when they played his music at social gatherings (not really); posted negative comments or gave "angry faced"   emojis   when people posted R. Kelly   pics , concerts, etc.   Because I believed it was R. Kelly, I vowed never to listen to him again in life.  An

Why are Disney, Women's March, Planned Parenthood, Me Too and Times Up Promoting Pedophilia?

Back in late September, early October 2018, I started receiving text messages to attend the Women’s March on October 4 to protest Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.  The vote was looming and because it was very close, the organizers wanted as much support as possible.  Although it was on a work day, I vehemently opposed Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court because I believe every word Dr. Ford said and I know he did it.  So, I decided to go. It was a beautiful, clear, warm autumn day and I took photos (attached).  The organizers included Women’s March, Planned Parenthood and The Center for Popular Democracy (CPDA).  We called out the (powerless) chants as we made our way to Kavanaugh’s former courthouse.  It was there that I noticed the LGBTQ flag in front, and directly above and below it on the same pole were two pedophile flags.  The only reason I knew about this "MAPs" or minor attracted persons" flag as they call it was because a ch
